Luke and Mark both graduated with distinction at Bournemouth University in 2005 and over a pint or two discussed the idea of having their own engineering and design consultancy in the future. They have been close friends ever since and after working together on a sports product in 2010, LUMA-iD Ltd. was set up in October 2012. Needless to say, they haven't looked back.

Luke specialises in mechanical engineering, logistics and manufacturing. He started learning his skills at Betronic Design House in Amsterdam, where he designed and led the production process for high quality multinationals such as Philips, Bosch, Princess and Zodiac Aerospace. After this Luke partnered with Princess and developed a product line of twelve products which were sold in stores sold internationally, including the Koozzzi wellness bottle. Luke's LinkedIn profile can be found here.
Mark specialises in and loves surface modelling and conceptual designs (he's the airy-fairy one). Mark has over seven years of Product Design experience, previously working for Europe's largest fishing tackle brand Fox International. Fox required a large range of products to be designed and developed, ranging from electronic waterproof bite detectors to fishing lures with a specific swim action. Mark's favourite project showcasing his mechanical and aesthetic skills is the FX11 fishing reel which was released summer 2013. Mark's LinkedIn profile can be found here.
Sam is a veteran LUMA member, having nurtured the Freefly VR headset from its inception. Nicknamed The Adobe Kid, his graphics skills are a great addition to the team, enabling the production of professional artwork. He enjoys presenting the industrial designs from the rest of the team and making shine like they deserve to be, mainly with Keyshot and Photoshop.
Matt was hired for LUMA as a full-time designer after a seasoned an internship with us. Matt's fascination with how things work has led him to be largely responsible for mechanism design at LUMA, along with helping Mark in the day to day running of the company. Matt has continued to improve his SolidWorks skills and is also gaining knowledge of running a 3D printer, as well as keeping the interns on the straight and narrow!
Jamie has joined LUMA for a placement year from Loughborough University, where he studies Product Design and Technology. As well as more traditional design skills such as computer modelling and sketching, his background as a massive nerd has helped LUMA bring products to life using electronics and embedded computer systems. His design skills are matched only by his love of coffee and since joining his proudest achievement has been getting the rest of the office hooked on Rick and Morty.
Beau is currently on his placement year, studying Industrial Design & Technology at Brunel University, where he has developed an extensive knowledge and understanding of the design process. His ability to graphically communicate and develop a concept is key when taking client ideas and presenting them as final products. He is eager to improve his CAD skills along with rendering whilst working at LUMA-iD and make the most of such a rewarding opportunity that will give him the experience to ensure he has a successful career.
