INTRODUCING THE CRIUS

The Crius, by Lightweight Engineering, a high performance single-seater road & track car designed purely for the thrill of driving and engineered to deliver the most raw, visceral and thrilling driving experience possible.
One thing that we all share in common here at LUMA is our love of cars! We have been working Lightweight Engineering on the Crius for the last two years. It has been a fantastic journey exploring combinations of styling options, internal limitations, performance options and an ever increasing knowledge of aerodynamics!
Weighing less than 400kg the Crius will be the lightest production car in the world and the only one to be powered by a 1000cc BMW superbike engine, which produces over 200 horsepower at 13,500rpm and over 113Nm of torque at 10,500rpm. With a power to weight ratio in excess of 500bhp/tonne the Crius will reach 60mph in less than 3 seconds, 100mph in less than 7 seconds and go on to reach a top speed in excess of 170mph. At this speed it will produce over 800kg of downforce from its full-length ground effect venturi tunnel and twin element front wing and rear wings.

British Engineering and Manufacturing
Lightweight Engineering will be the Saville Row tailor of the automotive world offering unrivalled levels of customisation and personalization to its customers. Each Crius will be hand built in the UK and tailored to the driver’s exact requirements. Once built their car will be moulded around them to ensure the best possible fit, with parts such as the seat and pedal box, being tailor made for each driver. The car will then be setup to their driving style and intended usage, whether it is road, track, race or a mixture of all three.
To achieve this level of performance every part is completely bespoke, with Lightweight Engineering designing and manufacturing over 90% of them in house. The remaining parts have been sourced from some of the best names in the motorsport industry including BBS, Ohlins, Chris Tullett exhausts, GEMS Electronics and Willans Harnesses. In most instances these parts are derived from those used in Formula 1 and LMP1, and in some cases the Crius actually uses the same parts as found on these cars.
